What supplements should I be taking?

Many of our patients ask us what supplements they should be taking to assist with their condition or improve their overall health and well being..

There are many different supplements on the market with many different brands, available to the consumer without a prescription. The danger in that, is taking things that can affect underlying conditions a patient may have, affect other medication absorption or cause unwanted side effects. Therefore some caution must be taken.

It is vital to know that no two supplements are the same, for example Magensium. There are many different forms of Magnesium on the shelves. However with some, the type of Magnesium used can cause diarrhoe and litereally flushed down the toilet.

Using reputable brands, backed by research is the best way to go.

At Nexus we provide advise on supplements relevant to the common musculo-skeleal conditions we see. This may be Magnesium, natural anti-inflammatories and joint relief supplements. We can also refer back to your GP to provide prescriptions on medication that we may see suited, or ask for further investigations like a blood test to see if you may have deficiencies.

We may advise Magnesium for cramping, menstrual pain, muscular tightness. We may advise powder over tablets for others. What we advise is very individualised to the medical history and the complaint a patient may have.

Come and see us at Nexus for an overall health tune up!
